Working with Suppliers & Producers Loading...
...is to enhance the quality of life of workers and farmers, as well as to reduce the environmental impacts throughout the garment production chain, from raw materials to finished garments.
Supply Chain Capacity Building refers to projects that improve conditions in the supply chain, such as improving the management systems of garment producers so they can treat their workers better or reduce their environmental footprint.
In addition, by undertaking support activities that link sustainable producers and factories in developing countries to brands in more developed countries, our aim is to increase their market reach and support their business development to ultimately improve their livelihoods.
How We Work With Suppliers & Producers
As a result of MADE-BY’s partnership with Solidaridad, we are able to undertake social and environmental improvement projects with brands’ suppliers. Solidaridad is a leading international NGO that has been a driving force in improving social and environmental conditions on the ground.
Together, we aim to address a wide range of global issues including: unsafe working conditions, working hours, low wages, energy inefficiencies in production, pesticide use in cotton farming and water use in dyeing houses.
Social & Environmental Improvement Projects
In 2013, MADE-BY supported Solidaridad to implement the brand engagement component of a major multi-year programme called the Bangladesh Water PaCT: Partnership for Cleaner Textile. The programme seeks to bring positive environmental change to the Bangladesh textile wet processing sector. MADE-BY supported the development of the programme’s kick off training materials for local brand representatives in Bangladesh. In 2014, MADE-BY will continue to work with Solidaridad to develop decision making tools and to deliver a series of brand facing trainings, educating European and Bangladesh CSR, product development and buying teams on sustainable wet processing.
In addition to the regular partnership with Solidaridad on implementation programmes, MADE-BY provided ongoing support to partner brand Ted Baker, developing social improvement projects with Ted Baker’s Chinese suppliers.
We aim to address a wide range of global issues including: unsafe working conditions, working hours, low wages, energy inefficiencies in production, pesticide use in cotton farming and water use in dyeing houses.
