MADE-BY Increases Technical Expertise Loading...
MADE-BY strengthens team and services with support from the Dutch Postcode Loterij
As industry engagement on environmental sustainability has evolved, brand activities have expanded deeper into the supply chain. Here, we have seen many brands report challenges in engaging their supply base, understanding where the key impact areas are and in even gaining an overview of where their products are produced beyond cut, make and trim factory level.
Recognising these challenges but also the significant opportunities for improvement, in 2013, we developed new tools, broadened our service offer and grew our team, adding further breadth and depth to our supply chain support package.
Our team now holds a diverse technical skill set around measuring and mitigating environmental issues including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), chemistry, wet processing management and eco-toxicological impacts. Enabling MADE-BY to offer brands specialist services around chemical management, tannery environmental reduction programmes and product environmental footprinting.
With this expanded expertise we began updating our existing decision support tools including our Fibre and Social Benchmarks and Guide to Textile Wet Processing Standards. We also started to develop new tools that address the industry’s evolving needs. As chemical management is still a key area of engagement for brands, MADE-BY initiated the development of a Wet Processing Benchmark and Scorecard, which will promote more sustainable wet processing techniques and highlight brand performance on wet processing interventions. This will be launched in 2014.
Together, these tools and skill sets form the foundation of MADE-BY’s enhanced package offer for 2014/15, providing brands with more integrated support across their entire supply chain.
